Once upon a time the fox was talking to the wolf about the strength of man, how no animal could withstand him, and how all were obliged to employ cunning in order to protect themselves from him.

wolf answered, "If I could see a man just once, I would attack him nonetheless."

"I can help you to do that," said the fox. "Come to me early tomorrow morning, and I will show you one."

The wolf arrived on time, and the fox took him out to the path which the huntsman used every day. First an old discharged soldier came by.

"Is that a man?" asked the wolf.

"No," answered the fox. "He has been one."

Afterwards came a little boy on his way to school.

"Is that a man?"

"No, he will yet become one."

Finally a huntsman came by with his double-barreled gun on his back, and a sword at his side.

The fox said to the wolf, "Look, there comes a man. He is the one you must attack, but I am going back to my den."

The wolf then charged at the man.

When the huntsman saw him he said, "Too bad that I have not loaded with a bullet." Then he aimed and fired a load of shot into his face.

The wolf pulled an awful face, but did not let himself be frightened, and attacked him again, on which the huntsman gave him the second barrel. The wolf swallowed his pain and charged at the huntsman again, who in turn drew out his naked sword, and gave him a few blows with it left and right, so that, bleeding all over, he ran howling back to the fox.

"Well," Brother Wolf, said the fox, "how did you get along with man?"

"Oh," replied the wolf, "I never imagined the strength of man to be what it is. First, he took a stick from his shoulder, and blew into it, and then something flew into my face which tickled me terribly. Then he breathed once more into the stick, and it flew up my nose like lightning and hail. Then when I got next to him, he drew a naked rib out of his body, and he beat me so with it that he almost killed me."

"See what a braggart you are," said the fox. "You throw your hatchet so far that you cannot get it back again."

After many years the Country mouse saw the City mouse; he said, "Do come and see me at my house in the country." So the City mouse went. The City mouse said, "This food is not good, and your house is not good. Why do you live in a hole in the field? You should come and live in the city. You would live in a nice house made of stone. You would have nice food to eat. You must come and see me at my house in the city."

What It's the real courage(什麼才是真正的勇氣)
A father was worried about his son, who was sixteen years old but had no courage at all. So the father decided to call on a Buddhist monk to train his boy.
The Buddhist monk said to the boy』s father, 「You should leave your son alone here. I』ll make him into a real man within three months. However, you can』t come to see him ring this period. 」
Three months later, the boy』s father returned. The Buddhist monk arranged a boxing match between the boy and an experienced boxer. Each time the fighter struck the boy, he fell down, but at once the boy stood up; and each time a punch knocked him down, the boy stood up again. Several times later, the Buddhist monk asked, 「What do you think of your child?」
「What a shame!」 the boy』s father said. 「I never thought he would be so easily knocked down. I needn』t have him left here any longer.」
「I』m sorry that that』s all you see. Don』t you see that each time he falls down; he stands up again instead of crying? That』s the kind of courage you wanted him to have.」

Story time―Make a puppet時,在故事的准備階段,運用學生喜愛的英文歌曲Head and shoulders,knees and toes、TPR游戲以及畫簡筆畫猜「What』s this?」
如,教師通過課件呈現人教版PEP五年級下冊Unit 5 Story time―Taking pictures全畫面,並問孩子「What are Zoom and Zip doing?Where are they? What are the monkeys doing?」 之後抓住「Why are the two monkeys picking up the stones?Do you think the two monkeys are very clever? Why or why not?」
Story time―Need a new goalkeeper時,許多學生不滿足於僅僅表演故事,他們希望根據自己的想法和學過的知識去改編故事。

The Old Cat
An old woman had a cat. The cat was very old; she could not run quickly, and she could not bite, because she was so old. One day the old cat saw a mouse; she jumped and caught the mouse. But she could not bite it; so the mouse got out of her mouth and ran away, because the cat could not bite it.

Then the old woman became very angry because the cat had not killed the mouse. She began to hit the cat. The cat said, "Do not hit your old servant. I have worked for you for many years, and I would work for you still, but I am too old. Do not be unkind to the old, but remember what good work the old did when they were young."

A man was going to the house of some rich person. As he went along the road, he saw a box of good apples at the side of the road. He said, "I do not want to eat those apples; for the rich man will give me much food; he will give me very nice food to eat." Then he took the apples and threw them away into the st.

He went on and came to a river. The river had become very big; so he could not go over it. He waited for some time; then he said, "I cannot go to the rich man's house today, for I cannot get over the river."

He began to go home. He had eaten no food that day. He began to want food. He came to the apples, and he was glad to take them out of the st and eat them.

Do not throw good things away; you may be glad to have them at some other time.

Once upon a time, there were four mice that lived in a wall in the field.
Summer was coming, and so the mice came out of the wall to collect berries, nuts, corn and straw. Everyone was working very hard, day and night. Everyone was working very hard, except, Frederick.
「Why aren』t you working, Frederick?」 his friends asked him. 「oh, but I am.」 Frederick told them. 「I』m collecting the sunshine for the cold, dark winter.」
A few days later his friends asked him again 「why aren』t you working, Frederick?」 「Oh, but I am.」 Frederick told them. 「I』m collecting colors for the long, grey winter.」
A few days later his friends asked him again 「why aren』t you working, Frederick?」 「Oh, but I am.」 Frederick told them. 「I』m collecting words for the long, quiet winter.」
Soon, the first snow came, and the four mice went back into the wall. They ate their berries and they ate their nuts and they ate their corn and they ate their straw. But time passed, and time passed, and soon there were no more berries, and soon there were no more nuts and soon there were no more corn and soon there were no more straw.
Now the winter was cold and dark, long and quiet. The mice were sad and hungry. Then they remembered Frederick.
「Hey, Frederick, can you show us what you collected for the winter.」
「Ok,」 said Frederick, 「close your eyes. Here is my sunshine for the cold, dark winter.」 And Frederick began to tell his friends some stories, and the mice to feel warmer and warmer.
「Great, Frederick! How about the colors and the words?」
「Ok,」 said Frederick, 「close your eyes」 and he told them about the blue skies, and he told them about the red poppies, and he told them about the green grass, and he told them about the purple berries, and he told them about the yellow corn of summer.
「That』s wonderful, Frederick, thank you.」 Said the mice. 「We』ve learned something about you」, they told him.
What do you think they learned?
1.My friend is Ann,she is 12 she has long hair and big eyes, she is very tall.On the study ,we help each other. After school we are always play together, than we go home together, because we live in the same housing esate.
2.A crow, ready to die with thirst, flew with joy to a pitcher which he saw at a distance. But when he came up to it, he found the water so low that with all his stooping and straining he was unable to reach it. Thereupon he tried to bread the pitcher, then to overturn it, seeing some small pebbles at hand, he dropped a great many of them, one by one, into the pitcher, and so raised the water to the brim, and quenched his thirst.
Skill and patience will succeed where force fails necessity is the mother of invention.
There was a man who had seven sons, but he had no daughter, greatly though he longed for one. At last his wife told him that they could again expect a child and, sure enough, when it was born it was a baby girl. There was great rejoicing, but the child was weak and puny, so weak that it had to be christened at once. The father told one of the boys to go quickly to the spring and fetch christening water; the other six ran along with him, and because each of them wanted to be the first to dip the jug into the well, it fell in and sank. So there they stood and didn't know what to do, and none of them dared go home. When they didn't come back their father got impatient and said:" I'll wager they've been playing some game again and forgotten all about it, the godless brats." He was afraid the little girl would have to die unbaptized, and in his rage he cried out:" I wish those boys would all turn into ravens."
On his way to visit his brother, Wu Song was at a place called Mount Jingyang. Though a bit drunk, he began to climb the mountain. Before long he saw a sign posted on a tree: "Travelers are advised to group together to climb over the mountain since tigers have killed some singular travelers of late. Please do not risk your life." Wu Song reasoned that the sign must have been written by the inn keeper at the foot of the mountain for the sake of scaring travelers into spending the night in his inn. He did not pay attention to the sign and continued on this way . At sunset he came to an old temple on top of the mountain. There Wu Song saw another official sing tigers on the mountain. Still, he decided no to return to the inn at the foot of the mountain for fear that the owner would laugh at him. He felt too drunk to walk on, so he decided to lie down on a slab of gray stone. Just as he was about to fall asleep, he felt a gust of wind whistling around him: It was a mammoth tiger charging at him. Wu Song immediately turned his body and dodged the animal. The tiger leapt again, but Wu Song managed to evade it. The beast got so angry that it used its tail to sweep toward Wu Song. Wu Song jumped to dodge the attack. He lifted his cudgel to hit the tiger while it was turning around, but his cudgel caught the branches of a tree and broke in two. The tiger was annoyed and launched another assault. Wu Song threw away the remnant of his cudgel and jumped onto the back of the tiger. With his left hand, he grabbed the skin of the head of the tiger, and he used his other fist to hit the eyes, mouth, nose and ears of the tiger. Before long, the tiger was bleeding all over and lied on the ground motionless. Wu Song was afraid the tiger was pretending to be dead, so he wielded the broken cudgel to hit the tiger until he was sure the tiger was dead. The incident on Mount Jingyang made Wu Song famous far and wide.

Once upon a time the truth and the lie went for a dip in the river. The lie went on the shore first and wore the cloth of the trurh silently refusing to reture it to the truth. The stubborn truth refuses to wear lie's clothes and without any other choice, went home naked. Even since than, there is only the lie who wears the truth's clothes inside the eyes of people, never accepting the bare naked truth.
